Cruise Travel Insurance
About the plan
What is Explora Journeys Global Protection?

A cruise insurance plan created for Explora Journeys guests sailing on a luxury cruise. It protects your trip investment before and during your Journey, and through to your return home when travel arrangements are reserved with Explora Journeys — with cover for trip cancellation and interruption, medical and dental care, emergency assistance and transport, baggage and travel delays, with 24/7 global assistance wherever you are.

Do I need travel insurance for a cruise?

Travel insurance is a personal choice, but we recommend considering covering your Journey with Explora Journeys to help protect against unexpected events and any associated costs. These include illness or injury before or during your cruise, a change to your plans, or lost or delayed baggage, and medical care while travelling may not be covered by your regular health insurance.

Explora Journeys Global Protection is designed to help protect against these situations, with cover for trip cancellation and interruption, medical and dental care, emergency assistance and transport, baggage and travel delays. You can add the plan to your cruise reservation up to your Final Payment date. Please refer to the plan documents for full details.

What does cruise insurance cover?

The plan covers the eligible components purchased through Explora Journeys and included in the insured trip value, such as your cruise fare and, where applicable, hotels, transfers and air arrangements. Independently arranged travel and other extras are not automatically included. Please refer to the plan documents for full details.

Who can buy Explora Journeys travel insurance for a cruise?

The plan is available to eligible guests who are resident in the United States and book a luxury cruise with Explora Journeys.

Does it cover everyone on my reservation?

The plan provides cover to eligible guests included in the same reservation and reported to the insurer. Children aged 17 and under may be covered at no additional charge when travelling on a cruise with one or more accompanying adults who have purchased the plan, subject to the applicable plan terms.

Adding the plan
How much does Explora Journeys cruise insurance cost?

The price depends on the value of your cruise and is displayed at the time of reservation, before you confirm.

When can I add cruise insurance?

You can add the plan to your cruise reservation up to your Final Payment date — no later than 90 days before departure for all other suite categories, or 150 days for Ocean Residenc

How do I add it?
  • While reserving — directly within the reservation process;
  • After reserving — through your My Explora area, the Explora Experience Center, or your trusted Travel Advisor.

In all cases, the plan must be added by your Final Payment date.

I've already reserved my cruise — can I still add it?

Yes, as long as your Final Payment date has not yet passed. You can add the plan through My Explora, the Experience Center, or your trusted Travel Advisor.

Washington State residents
I'm a Washington State resident — what should I do?

Simply select your State of Residence when adding the plan, so the correct cover and price are applied.

Some guests on my reservation are Washington residents and others are not — what happens?

If some guests on your reservation are Washington State residents and others are not, the plan cannot be added online. Please contact the Explora Experience Center and we will be glad to arrange it for you.

Changes, cancellations & claims
What happens if I change my cruise reservation?

If your reservation changes after the plan has been purchased, the relevant reservation and insurance information may need to be updated. Any change to the insured trip cost, coverage or premium is subject to the applicable plan terms and acceptance by the insurer.

Can I change my mind after purchasing?

Yes. You may cancel the plan for a full refund within 10 days (California, New York and Washington) or 15 days (all other states) of purchase, provided you have not filed a claim and your cruise has not yet started.

How do I make a claim or get help while travelling?

Call Generali Global Assistance on 800-905-3886 — available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Simply quote your reservation reference, and the team will assist you with help while travelling or with a claim.

Where can I see my plan and documents?

In your My Explora area: you'll find confirmation of your cover, a summary of your benefits, and your documents to download.
