The legend harkens back to the 9th century. Nestled in a verdant cap atop north-western Spain, Vilagarcía de Arousa is the gateway to Galicia. The old town is full of distinguished monuments – masterworks of Romanesque, Medieval, and Neoclassicist. Its western cliffs, a living history of a place thought by the Romans to be the end of the known world. Just beyond, the storied camino path meanders through the UNESCO-celebrated Santiago de Composta with its tomb of the Biblical apostle, St. James. Let all of that sink in as you tuck into traditional Galician pulpo in one of many waterfront eateries, sipping Albariño wine.
