DESCRIPTION OF THE CREDIT
One Seamless Experience Credit
Explora Credit is a non-cash promotional credit designed to combine advance Journey planning with onboard flexibility through a single integrated credit mechanism. The credit enables eligible guests to reserve selected experiences prior to embarkation while retaining the ability to utilize any remaining balance onboard during the Journey.
Explora Credit may be applied toward eligible pre-Journey and onboard experiences, subject to availability, applicable conditions, and operational limitations. Certain experiences reserved prior to embarkation may benefit from preferential pre-Journey pricing or enhanced availability.
Certain eligible experiences reserved in advance may be offered at a preferential rate compared to onboard pricing, where applicable.
Any unused pre-Journey balance will automatically remain available for onboard use, allowing guests to redeem the remaining value at their discretion throughout the Journey.
Explora Credit is personal to the guest and intended solely for the enhancement of the guest experience onboard and in connection with the Journey.
Advance reservations are optional. Guests may plan experiences in advance or choose to arrange experiences onboard, subject to availability and applicable conditions.
USING EXPLORA CREDIT PRIOR TO THE JOURNEY
Explora Credit may be used prior to embarkation to reserve selected eligible experiences, limited to the options listed below:
- Destination Experiences
- Ocean Wellness
- Anthology experiences
- Culinary tastings and curated dining experiences
- Pre- and post-Journey transfers
Explora Credit cannot be applied toward:
- Hotels
- Land packages
- Flights (including Sky & Sea packages)
Pre-Journey Applicability
- Explora Credit is automatically applied to eligible add-on purchases based on the booking creation date and time.
- Explora Credit is automatically applied to eligible add‑ons in accordance with system rules and cannot be manually allocated, prioritized, or directed by the guest toward specific items.
- Guests are unable to manually allocate or select the specific products or services against which the credit is applied.
- Where Explora Credit is applied to a booking in which eligible add‑ons have already been paid in full, the applicable value may generate a refund to the original form of payment, in accordance with internal processing rules.
- Explora Credit may only be redeemed against eligible experiences and services designated by Explora Journeys.
- Any portion of the Explora Credit not utilized prior to embarkation will automatically transfer for onboard use and be converted into the applicable onboard operating currency.
- The availability of advance reservations and the use of Explora Credit prior to embarkation may be subject to cut‑off periods defined per experience type and channel, as communicated at the time of booking.
- Eligible experiences and services may be made available for advance reservation prior to embarkation. Availability, eligible inventory, and the opening schedule for advance reservations may vary by suite category and/or by experience type
- Advance reservations may be made by the guest directly through the Explora Experience Centre or a preferred Travel Advisor. Where a guest chooses to use a Travel Advisor, the guest authorizes such Travel Advisor to reserve eligible experiences on the guest’s behalf (including the application of Explora Credit), subject always to these Terms & Conditions and availability.
- Ocean Wellness – The Spa: Ocean Wellness – The Spa bundles created and paid for using Explora Credit are non-refundable once onboard.
The value and currency denomination of Explora Credit are determined by the original booking currency associated with the guest’s country of residence.
Any Explora Credit not redeemed prior to embarkation will automatically transfer onboard and convert into the ship’s operating currency.

- Grand Journeys between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea & Arabian Peninsula
The following itineraries operate with USD:
- Caribbean & Central America
- Alaska
- South America & Amazon
- Central & North America Pacific Coast
- US & Canada East Coast & New England
- Transatlantic Grand Journeys
The Explora Credit will be returned to the guest’s account in the event of a cancellation made up to 5 days prior to departure.
From 5 days before departure until embarkation, guests may still use the credit to add items to their booking; however, the credit will no longer be refundable or redeemable in case of cancellation.
For any booking modifications (for example, changes to the time schedule of pre‑booked items), guests are kindly requested to contact our Ambassadors.
Cancellation and refund conditions may vary depending on whether the experience was purchased at full fare or under a discounted or promotional condition.
ENJOYING EXPLORA CREDIT ON BOARD
Any unused Explora Credit balance may be applied onboard toward eligible purchases and experiences, limited to the options listed below:
- Destination Experiences
- Ocean Wellness
- Anthology experiences
- Culinary tastings and curated dining experiences
- Premium wines, spirits, cocktails, and beverages
- Curated shopping at The Journey boutique
- Post-Journey transfers
- Selected onboard suite upgrades
Explora Credit cannot be applied toward:
- Purchases in luxury monobrand boutiques (including Rolex on EXPLORA I, Buccellati on EXPLORA II, Chopard and Ocean Atelier on EXPLORA III, and Cartier, Piaget, Panerai),
- Casino credits, advances, or gaming-related transactions
- Cash withdrawals or cash-equivalent transactions
- Gratuities or additional discretionary gratuities
- Donations to the MSC Foundation
- Clarendon Fine Art
- Host Lifestyle Fund contributions
Explora Credit is intended to provide guests with flexibility to personalize their onboard experience throughout the Journey.
Any alternative item offered to the guest in place of a previously booked item shall be subject to the prevailing onboard price at the time of the change. Where the price of the alternative item exceeds that of the originally booked item, the guest shall be responsible for the payment of any resulting price difference.
Certain experiences offered as discounted packages or bundled experiences may be non‑refundable once booked, as specified at the time of reservation.
Requests for changes to an existing booked item, including rescheduling of the same item, will be handled on a best‑efforts basis, subject to availability and operational constraints. The Company does not guarantee that such requests can be fulfilled.
Where a guest requests to modify or swap an eligible experience reserved prior to embarkation, such request will be subject to availability and operational constraints. If the new experience is of a higher value, the difference is payable by the guest. If the new experience is of a lower value and Explora Credit was applied, any residual value will remain available as Explora Credit and may be used for other eligible purchases, subject to these Terms & Conditions.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Explora Credit is attributed on a per person, nominative basis and:
- Is non-refundable in cash value;
- Non-transferable, even within the same guest suite
- Holds no cash value;
- May not be exchanged for cash or cash equivalents;
- May not be applied toward cancellation fees.
The full balance of Explora Credit must be utilized no later than 18:00 local ship time on the final evening of the Journey. Any unused balance remaining after this time will automatically expire and be forfeited without compensation or reimbursement.
In the event of cancellation within applicable penalty periods, guests may forfeit all or part of the Explora Credit, subject to the applicable cancellation policy and internal operational rules. Credits associated with cancelled onboard services or experiences may not be reissued or redeemed following cancellation. Additional restrictions may apply.
