Itinerary

1. Day 1 , Buenos Aires, Argentina 2028-01-11 Departure 18:00

   Every neighbourhood moves to a different rhythm in Buenos Aires. Recoleta’s grand boulevards and marble mausoleums give way to the elegant palaces and European architecture of Retiro and Montserrat. Find street art and football fever in La Boca’s colourful Caminito, and settle into vibrant parrillas (steakhouses) and late-night wine bars in Palermo. In the afternoon, wander the cobbles of San Telmo, where tango drifts across leafy plazas, or explore the revitalised red-brick warehouses of the city’s former docklands in Puerto Madero. 

2. Day 2 , Montevideo, Uruguay 2028-01-12 Arrival 08:00 Departure 17:00

   Less audacious and more laid-back than its Argentine neighbour, the Uruguayan capital radiates an easy charm. Narrow streets of Ciudad Vieja lead towards the historic Puerta de la Ciudadela and the wide-open space of Plaza Independencia, where the soaring tower of Palacio Salvo is said to evoke Dante’s The Divine Comedy in architectural form. Uruguayan steak sizzles over the parrillas beneath the wrought-iron arches of Mercado del Puerto, while unhurried evenings on the waterfront see locals gather for yerba mate at sunset.

5. Day 5 , Port Stanley (East Falkland), Falkland Islands (Malvinas) 2028-01-15 Arrival 09:00 Departure 21:00

   Penguins outnumber people in the Falkland Islands, a windswept archipelago with a long lineage of seafaring and exploration. Colourful cottages line the waterfront in Port Stanley, where the Whalebone Arch memorial, traditional British red post boxes and the most southerly Anglican cathedral in the world add a dash of eccentric charm to this Atlantic frontier. Delve into maritime heritage at the Historic Dockyard Museum or head out across rolling hills towards Gypsy Cove and its colony of Magellanic penguins.

7. Day 7 , Puerto Williams, Chile 2028-01-17 Arrival 07:00 Departure 13:00

   Mosses, lichen and wind-beaten lenga forests blanket the wilderness around Puerto Williams, a remote settlement at the southern edge of the inhabited world. Uncover its rich subantarctic diversity at the Omora Ethnobotanical Park and learn about the region’s indigenous Yaghan heritage at the Martín Gusinde Museum. Follow the trail up Bandera Hill for views of the jagged Dientes de Navarino mountains and the distant peaks of the Tierra del Fuego cordillera, before feasting on king crab in harbourside restaurants overlooking the Beagle Channel.

8. Day 8 , Sailing Capo Horn, Chile 2028-01-18 Arrival 09:00 Departure 15:00

   Follow in the wake of ancient mariners to the far reaches of South America, where powerful ocean currents churn beneath windswept headlands and the Drake Passage opens towards Antarctica. Here at the southern tip of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, petrels surf the high winds and Patagonian sea lions bask on rocky outcrops. Keep one eye on the waves for dolphins and the occasional spout of a humpback whale, while albatross wheel around the lighthouse on Hornos Island.

9. Day 9 , Ushuaia, Argentina 2028-01-19 Arrival 07:00

   Framed by the snow-capped peaks of the Andes and the waters of the Beagle Channel, adventure calls in Ushuaia, the fabled ‘End of the World’. Ride the century-old railway through the wind-beaten lenga forests of Tierra del Fuego National Park; visit the chattering penguins of Martillo Island; or hike around glacial lagoons in sublime mountain valleys. Hear tales of endurance at historic estancias and savour grilled Patagonian lamb and trout in waterfront restaurants, accompanied by crisp Argentine wines and views across the Beagle Channel.
