Pangea Expedition Sailing Vessel

During 14 years of boundary-pushing expeditions, Mike Horn, and his 35-metre (115-foot) yacht, Pangaea, have been through a lot together. Hardy. Intrepid. Adaptable. The words apply equally to man and yacht.

After swimming down the 7000-kilometre length of the Amazon River, tracing the equator around the globe and walking to the North Pole in the depths of Arctic winter, Mike found his true calling: to inspire a new generation of explorers into environmental stewardship through adventure and endeavour.

Marine architects created his vision for the ultimate expedition vessel as a base of operations for his adventures and environmental youth programs, designed to withstand the challenging conditions of polar regions and to carry wide-eyed adventurers to the far corners of the earth. A lightweight reinforced aluminium hull to fend off bumpy bergs, minimal draft to navigate shallow waters, and a razor-sharp prow to slice through Arctic ice. In 2008, Pangaea was born.

Pangaea is the name given to primordial Earth in its nascent form, a vast contiguous Supercontinent surrounded by unfathomable ocean, untouched by human hands. Derived from the Ancient Greek words pan, meaning ‘all’, and Gaea, meaning ‘Earth’, the name symbolises the entire natural world. After 27 world tours together, Mike and Pangaea continue to ply the world’s oceans in never-ending pursuit of truth and beauty.
