This Passage of our Inaugural World Journey sails eastward through the world’s bluest reaches, following the steady rhythm of the Pacific from the tropical climes of Fiji and Tonga and the history-laden Cook Islands to the spectacular serenity of Bora Bora and the legendary Tahiti, weaving together some of the most storied island cultures within a single, seamless journey. The Passage carries EXPLORA I across the International Dateline, marking a quiet yet symbolic transition in time and perspective. On Huahine, ancient temples, lush vegetation, and traditional dances reflect the authenticity of Polynesian life, while Raiatea reveals the sacred heart of Polynesia through Taputapuātea, a UNESCO-listed sacred site recognised as the spiritual centre of the Polynesian triangle, deeply connected to ancestral knowledge, ritual, and the rhythms of the ocean. It’s a crossing that feels dreamlike, an awakening to a life lived in a vast expanse on the other side of the world.

Day 1, Auckland, New ZealandDeparture 22:00
Known as the City of Sails - and spontaneous rainbows — Auckland charms as a beachy urban haven lounging beside the lucid blue-green water of New Zealand’s North Island. Adventure awaits in every direction: explore Rangitoto Island’s volcanic trails or Waiheke’s renowned vineyards and beaches. In town, two harbours invite waterfront strolls, fresh sea air, and sweeping Harbour Bridge views. Meet local artisans and farmers at Matakana, then step into Auckland War Memorial Museum’s showcase of Māori heritage. The ultimate exclamation point: the Sky Tower soaring over the peaceful cityscape.
Day 2, Waitangi (Bay of Islands), New ZealandArrival 08:00Departure 16:00
A destination of destiny in an island-dotted bay, Waitangi is a place of immense historical and cultural significance, where the signing of the 1840 Treaty preserved Māori sovereignty under Crown governance. No port is sweeter than Lautoka, Fiji’s “Sugar City” on Viti Levu’s western coast, where authenticity reigns and everyday life feels genuinely Fijian. Explore markets spilling with tropical fruits, pause at vibrant Hindu temples, or sample curries simmering with Indo-Fijian spices. Connect to the land with a soak at Sabeto Hot Springs and natural mud pools, or delve deeper into culture at Viseisei Village —the legendary birthplace of Fijian settlement. Warm, welcoming, and fully authentic, Lautoka quietly unlocks the true heart of Fiji.
Day 6, Dravuni Island, FijiArrival 07:00Departure 18:00
Dainty Dravuni Island sits atop the vast Astrolabe Reef, a renowned breeding ground for spectacular marine life. Powdery white sands fringe turquoise lagoons, perfect for effortless swims, superb snorkelling over vibrant corals, and serene sunbathing in utter seclusion. Onshore, savour freshly caught seafood, hike the highest mountain peak for sweeping panoramic views, and mingle in the village where children’s songs ring out and adults warmly invite guests to a traditional kava ceremony. A small island that will linger in memory.
Day 7, Suva (Viti Levu), FijiArrival 08:00Departure 21:00
With one foot in the present and the other in the past, Suva sits just west of the International Date Line that separates yesterday from tomorrow. A cosmopolitan capital city that surprises with architecture as diverse as its culture. Linger amongst orchids at the shady Victorian oasis of Thurston Gardens which hides a striking clock tower at the Fiji Museum. Explore waterfalls, hiking trails and listening for bird songs at Colo-Suva Forest Park or glide up the pristine Navua River in a traditional longboat, weaving through forest and welcoming villages.

You’ll find much to adore in the thriving Talamahu Market or by joining a traditional kava ceremony to sip the iconic elixir. Experience intimate encounters with corals and sea life, or glimpse the Royal Palace, guardian of Tonga’s monarchy since 1865. Tranquillity mingling with tradition — it’s obvious why Captain Cook dubbed Tonga the ‘Friendly Islands’.

Day 13, Moʻorea, French PolynesiaArrival 08:00Departure 19:00
Encircled by a translucent lagoon, verdant valleys and bamboo forests, Mo’orea is French Polynesia’s most cinematic outpost. Home to the mythical “Bali Ha’i” from James Michener’s Tales of the South Pacific, the island reigns in literary legend. Dive into the Lagoonarium to swim with gentle rays and fish named for butterflies. Hike to Belvédère for one of the Pacific’s most breathtaking panoramic views, or trek Three Coconuts Pass to immerse yourself deeper in the island’s emerald greenery. Heart-shaped Mo’orea is a true paradise for nature lovers.
Day 14, Bora Bora, French PolynesiaArrival 08:00Departure 22:00
Two little words—Bora Bora—ignite the passions of painters, poets, and romantics. No wonder, given its ancient Tahitian name Pora Pora mai te Pora, meaning ‘created by the gods’. Surely the deities dwell atop Mount Otemanu, a jagged emerald chapel piercing the heavens. Stroll along powdery white sands or plunge into the eternally indigo lagoon where gentle manta rays glide like silent butterflies and vibrant reef fish swim upon calm currents. Could there be any place more perfectly poised as the bridge between heaven and earth?
Day 15, Huahine, French PolynesiaArrival 08:00Departure 22:00
An untamed 'mountain island' of mystical allure, Huahine dazzles with jagged emerald peaks plunging into tranquil lagoons. Legend claims the god Hiro split the island with his canoe, creating Huahine Nui and Iti. Deliciously remote and culturally profound, it hides ancient marae temples and sacred blue-eyed eels gliding through shaded streams near Faie village, amid fragrant vanilla pods and vibrant pareos. Kayak lush river valleys, snorkel coral gardens, or unwind on secluded motu beaches — a secret garden of unspoiled Polynesian luxury.
Day 16, Raiatea, French PolynesiaArrival 08:00Departure 18:00
The whole of heaven stirs above Raiatea, the spiritual heart of ancient Polynesia where the veil thins between living and ancestors. Step lightly into Taputapuātea Marae, a UNESCO heritage site from which voyagers launched migrations to Hawaii and New Zealand. Encircled by reef, this paradise features Polynesia’s only navigable river. Take a short journey along the inlet’s steep tree cliffs. Enjoy a day trip or boat to Taha’a to explore Vanilla Valley plantation, uncover its secret past, or swim among vibrant coral in the pristine lagoon.
Day 17, Papeete (Tahiti), French PolynesiaArrival 07:00
“La ora na,” and warm Tahitian smiles welcome you to Papeete, the lively capital of French Polynesia. Relax on the exquisite velvet-black sands of Point Venus, named by Captain Cook, framed by its astonishing beauty or seek the surfing shores of the 2024 Olympics. Explore basalt cliffs and lush waterfalls inland, or snorkel vibrant turquoise waters. Visit Le Marché, the century-old market for black pearls and crafts, and discover Paul Gauguin’s inspiration in the islands’ vivid colours that he described as the true “language of dreams”.
